Tonight’s the big un-boxing: up with the shrubbery, up with the lights, up with Christmas! Here’s my most recent addition to the fanfare – the yo-yo garland.

And, what a quick and relaxing occupation it’s been; one movie rental (You, Me, and Dupree) and I was halfway done.Â
I’m planning to make a red & white one as well, as I have a red & white Christmas fantasy for my kitchen table. I just need to hunt down some red & white striped fabric and see what it does in yo-yo form. I’m hoping for a peppermint effect.
I do have a ceramic peppermint garland, but it’s seen better days.

so sweet. nice work, heather.
LOVE it, Heather!!! Almost too nice to use! You could make a fun belt out of your yo-yo’s!
very nice I love the colors. I love the alternating sizes too, very sweet. How long have you made it thus far and long do you plan on making it.
Wow, you must be VERY fast at yo-yo making!! Love these – I must get cracking and make one myself.
That is absolutely lovely!
i love the garland!!!
very, very cute!
Hey Heather–love your blog! I just bought some red and white stripe at wal-mart for some ornaments I made for a swap. It’s a couple of posts down on my blog. I think it makes a really great peppermint effect , and it was only $2 a yard! don’t know if you have wal-mart near you. Good luck!
That is such a cute idea!! Please share pictures if you do the red and white version–I think it would be most adorable! 🙂 I can just see this playful little garland strung around the ceiling of a children’s room…
Loved your photos!
The yo-yo garland is fabulous! This is such a fun idea that I will attempt one as well–it’s definitely going on my “Just Have To Do” master list.
I just made a few yo yos out of some red and white striped fabric….They had that very effect of candy cane stripes….very cute. I am putting them on an apron for a gift.
Lovely Heather – between you and Anna Maria I don’t know which one to make. They are both so different, yet both gorgeous! Can’t wait to see the red and white theme.
Love it Heather!!! You have such yo-yo perfection. Di, Make them both silly!!!
xoxo,AM
I had to try this, so I went to my son’s closet, and found a red/white oxford shirt that no longer fits…….they are adorable! Thanks so much!
These yo-yo garlands are absolutely precious! I remember my grandmother having a “yo-yo pillow” so seeing your garland brings back good memories.
Lovely !!!
Ooooh! I have a basket of about 80 red yo-yos waiting for inspiration — I think this is it! Thanks 🙂
Gorgeous! I’m going to give this a try over the weekend–it’s a good excuse to buy some Christmas-y fabrics 🙂
I actually used some actual peppermint printed fabric on some yo-yos last week and it looks pretty good. Love your stuff!
absoloutely beautiful!
Say, I was thinking about a peppermint yo-yo garland just this morning! My living room needs a little more red, and the candy stripes would be just the ticket. The Fresh Cut version is a beauty; very festive!
aaa! where have I been ?
How come I didn’t know about this blog sooner?
Great place to be !!!
Love, S.
Love it!!!
thank you so much – I found my new addiction !
now I know what to do with my scraps of Liberty fabric ;o)
Heather, You are inspirational. Man, I have got to go clean my studio! Checking out all your wonderful fabrics, I am chomping at the bit! Thanks for the kick we all need sometimes….
I just got hooked on yo yos. So gald to see your version!
Wow Heather, I love your yo-yo garland! I just have one question- how did you attach them together? Keep up the yo-yo-ing 🙂
How are the yo-yos attached together?
